Our Location

Each session is divided into two parts of about one hour each: Basic Theory, addressing technical aspects, and Artistic Concepts. I have drawn from established concepts and the literature in art and photography. Most sessions have a driving concept deriving from an artist or writer who is identified in the title of that session.

Session One: The Defining Moment (Cartier-Bresson)

Session Two: Color Theory (Goethe)
     Basics: Color Wheel
     Concepts: Artistic Intent (Kunstwollen)

Session Three: A Certain Slant of Light (Dickinson)
     Basics: Natural Light
     Concepts: 1. Creation of three dimensions -                              Psychology of Vision
                         2. Representation v. Interpretation

Session Four: A Certain Slant of Light (Cont.)
     Basics: Artificial Light & Studio Lighting
     Concepts: 1. The "Fourth Wall"
                         2. "Stillness" (art/writing assignment)

Session Five: Portraiture (Titian)
     Basics: Formats/ Single v Group Portraits
     Concepts: 1. The "Inner Person"
                         2. Representaion v. Interpretation
                         3. "Stillness" in art - Readings

Session Six: Printing Options
     Basics: Color, B&W, Digital, Other; Framing & Display
     Concepts:  1. Career Development
